牧鹅女
古时候有个勤劳善良的姑娘，父母去世后跟着哥嫂一块儿度日。因为哥嫂家穷，日子很不好过。姑娘不想连累哥嫂，就在一天出外挖野菜的时候，乘机离开了家。
她来到了一条小河边。肚子已饿了，又没东西吃。姑娘看着潺潺的流水心里说：“老天爷不给饭吃，为什么还叫我活在这个世界上？道不如跟河水去了好！”
姑娘正想跳河，只听背后传来鹅的叫声。她回头一看，一个穿着讲究的阔老头抱着一只大白鹅来到了河边，看样子他是来河边杀鹅的。
大白鹅见了姑娘发出悲惨的叫声，它的叫声把姑娘的心都叫碎了。姑娘仔细一看，大白鹅正对她“扑簌簌”掉眼泪呢。
姑娘问鹅的主人：“你把鹅带到这里，要杀吗？”
“对！杀了它回去做一顿美餐！”鹅的主人说。
姑娘求情说：“看它怪可怜的，还是别杀吧！”
“那么，你出三十两银子，我把它卖给你！”
“我身上分文没有。要不，我到你家做三个月的佣人，用我的工钱抵那三十两银子吧！”
鹅主人见姑娘眉清目秀，挺喜欢的，便答应了她提出的条件，把大白鹅交给了姑娘。
姑娘接过大白鹅，抚摩了一番，亲切地对它说：“鹅，鹅。你高飞吧！飞过河，飞过山，飞到那不受人欺负的地方去吧！”说完，她把大白鹅往空中一送，大白鹅趁势飞到了空中，不一会儿就飞得无影无踪了。
姑娘跟着鹅主人走了。原来，鹅主人是个老财主。
姑娘到财主家的晚上，做了一个梦。梦见大白鹅从天上飞来，落到她的床边。大白鹅从脖子上取下一个银项链，对姑娘说：“谢谢你的救命之恩。这是一个银项链，你把它戴到脖子上，需要我的时候，把银项链在脖子上转三圈，喊一声：‘鹅来帮我！’我就会来的！”大白鹅说完，飞走了。
姑娘醒来，知道是一场梦。但奇怪的是，梦中大白鹅送给她的银项链却挂在她的脖子上。她抚摩着银项链看了许久，又迷迷糊糊睡着了。
天色一明，老财主把姑娘叫了去。
他对姑娘说：“我家别的事都有人干，用不着你插手。我见你喜欢鹅，就让人买了一群雏鹅，你给我牧鹅去！……不过，凡是给我牧鹅的姑娘，都得符合我提出的三个条件。如果你做到了这三条，我三天之内就放你走，再给你三百两银子；如果做不到，你就得嫁给我，伺侯我一辈子。
“你的三个条件是什么？”
“今天，我只给你提头一个条件。要你把我的雏鹅一天只内喂成大鹅！”姑娘听到这第一个条件就“哇”的一声哭了。老财主却得意地笑了。
财主走后，一位白胡子老头突然在姑娘面前出现了。白胡子老头拄着龙头拐杖走近姑娘说：“姑娘，财主提出的条件，你答应吧，说不定鹅到晚上会长大的！”说完，老头便不见了。
牧鹅女赶着雏鹅来到了一个碧绿碧绿的小湖旁，小湖边长满了青草，雏鹅见了青草便都吃起来。牧鹅女望着湖水，想着老财主提的条件，心里又恨又气。这时，她想起大白鹅的话。她急忙把银项链绕脖子转了三圈，说：“鹅来帮我！”话音刚落，只见大白鹅从湖水中游过来，对牧鹅女说：“要我帮什么？”
牧鹅女将老财主提的头一个条件与鹅一说，大白鹅说：“这好办，把雏鹅交给我，天黑之前到湖边来赶鹅就是了！”
傍晚，姑娘来到湖边，只见湖边聚着一群大鹅。她数了数，与雏鹅的数目一样，一个不多一个不少。于是，她高高兴兴地把大白鹅赶回财主家。
财主一见雏鹅在一天之内变成了大鹅，很吃惊。只见他俩眼珠滴溜溜一转，便对姑娘说：“牧鹅女，你偷谁家的鹅，来冒充我家的？”
“这分明是你家的鹅，你说我偷的，有什么证据？再说谁有本事去偷这么一群鹅？”姑娘分辩说。
财主被姑娘问得张口结舌，答不上话来。
这天夜里，财主一夜没睡觉，他在想第二个难题。天一亮，财主找到牧鹅女对她说：“第二个条件吗，你听着！我昨晚想我的雏鹅想得发疯了，我不喜欢大鹅，你今天把这群大鹅再还原成雏鹅吧！”
牧鹅女又赶着大鹅来到湖边，她把脖子上的银项链转了三圈唤来大白鹅，跟他说了财主出的第二个难题。
大白鹅听了，拍打着翅膀说：“这太好办了，老财主的雏鹅都在我家中，你赶回的都是我请来的朋友。等天黑之前，来赶你的雏鹅好了！”
天黑前，牧鹅女来到湖边，把雏鹅群赶回老财主的家中。老财主一见雏鹅，只好认输。
晚上，财主怎么也想不出第三个难题。他从屋里走到院里，月光下看见了自己的影子，霎时，他有了坏主意。
天刚明，财主对姑娘说：“这第三个条件嘛，要你在日落以后、月出以前回来。回来时，不光赶回我的鹅，还要把每只鹅的影子也带回来！”
牧鹅女赶着雏鹅又来到湖边，她把脖子上的银项链转了三圈，大白鹅又出现了。牧鹅女把老财主的第三个难题告诉了它。大白鹅思索了半天，对姑娘说：“这一回得由你亲自动手了。你把雏鹅交给我吧，再回到财主家。然后到你住的房间的东头墙跟下，那里有财主埋的银子，你取一点儿到街上买些小灯笼和蜡烛来。灯笼和蜡烛的数量要与雏鹅一样多。去吧，日落之后来赶你的鹅吧！”
日落之后，天慢慢黑下来了。月亮还没升起来。牧鹅女赶着雏鹅回到财主家。财主听说鹅群回来了，连忙出门观看，只见每只鹅身后都拖着一个影子。原来，每只鹅的脖子上都挂着一盏明亮的灯笼。财主见自己最后一招失败了，就强词夺理地说：“我要雏鹅的日影和月影，谁叫你带着灯影来？”
“日头落了，哪来的日影？月亮没出，哪来的月影？”姑娘争辩说。
财主还要与姑娘争辩，忽然，那个白胡子老头拄着龙头拐杖又出现在他们的面前。他用拐杖指着财主的鼻子说：“你提的三个条件，姑娘都一一做到了，还是把你的三百两银子取出来，让她带上走吧！”
财主哪里肯认输，还要狡辩。只见老头把龙头拐杖往地上一摔，拐杖立即变做一条大蟒蛇，逼向财主。财主慌了，急忙答应给牧鹅女取三百两银子。
财主取来了三百两银子，交给了牧鹅女。
白胡子老头领着牧鹅女来到村边，对牧鹅女说：“我是仙鹤老人，被你救过的大白鹅曾做过我的邻居，我是受他的委托来帮助你的。你离家后，你哥嫂找你好几天了。我给他们送了个信，他们顺这条路来接你了，你就把银子带回去，与哥嫂一块过日子吧！”说完，老头化做一只仙鹤，朝夜空飞去。
果然牧鹅女远远见哥嫂顺大路走来。牧鹅女同哥嫂回了家，过上了安稳的日子。

The girl followed the goose owner. It turned out that the owner of the goose was an old rich man.
When the girl came to the rich man's house at night, she had a dream. She dreamed that a big white goose flew from the sky and landed on her bedside.
